The evening begins with a Wreath Laying at the Victims of Communism Memorial followed by a Congressional Reception and Awards Ceremony at the Rayburn House Office Building.
5 pm - 7 pm: Reception and Awards Ceremony in the
AHF will present its highest award, the Col. Commandant Michael Kovats Medal of Freedom to outstanding members of Congress and the community in recognition of their achievements, dedication to freedom and democracy, promotion of transatlantic relations, and meritorious contribution to society. AHF will also unveil its plans for the National Memorial to the Heroes of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution in the Nation's Capital! AHF selected the inspiring "Spirit of 1956," seen above, by renowned artist Gyuri Hollosy whose works have been acclaimed across the nation.
